The University of Roehampton Professional Services Limited is recruiting two Planning and Data Analysts to join our Planning & Strategic Projects Team. These roles will work at the heart of the University’s decision-making processes, supporting statutory reporting, business intelligence development, and strategic analysis.

The post holders will work closely with the Data Quality & Returns Manager and colleagues across the Planning team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, accurate data and insights. They will contribute to the preparation of statutory student data returns, undertake complex analyses, support strategic projects, and deliver business intelligence that informs planning, monitoring, and performance evaluation across the University.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with the Data Quality & Returns Manager to prepare, coordinate, audit, and quality-assure statutory student data returns (HESA, OfS, NHS England, DfE).
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of student and applications data, producing reports, resolving data issues, and undertaking routine and ad hoc analyses to inform decision-making.
  • Create dashboards, visualisations, and automated reporting processes using Power BI (or similar tools) to improve efficiency and insight delivery.
  • Support the administration, analysis, and reporting of internal and external surveys, course setup, and other data-related processes.
  • Assist in producing management reports, benchmarking information, and insights for senior management and University committees.
  • Contribute to research, market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and strategic projects across the Planning & Strategic Projects Team.
  • Provide general team support including monitoring the Planning inbox, taking meeting minutes, processing purchase orders and invoices, and undertaking ad hoc tasks as requested by the Data & Insight Manager or Head of Strategic Planning.
  • Build effective relationships across the University and maintain a flexible approach to work.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Educated to degree level in an analytical subject
  • High level of numeracy and statistical analysis techniques with the ability to interpret complex sets of information
  • Excellent IT skills (particular emphasis on Microsoft Office and data visualisation and transformation tools e.g. Power BI)
  • The ability to work effectively with colleagues of differing levels of seniority within and external to the University
  • Ability to handle large volumes of data
  • Ability to successfully manage a varied and pressured workload and to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to remain up to date with developments in the Higher Education sector
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Some knowledge and experience of the UK Higher Education system, including its planning, funding and operation would be an advantage
  • Experience of working in an office-based environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information
  • A committed team payer

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of Higher Education concepts and terminology
